My approach to therapy is Trauma Informed and Client Centered. I have been working in the Mental Health/Addictions field since 2012, after graduating from the master's program at MSU-B in Mental Health & Rehabilitation Counseling. I know life can be difficult at times and it helps to have someone to guide you on your journey. Whether you are dealing with the loss of a loved one, depression, anxiety, trauma, addictions or other concerns; I'm here to help and support you. I use a number of different therapies depending on the client's individualized needs. Some of the treatment modalities I utilize are: EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), Seeking Safety/Trauma Focused, Stress Reduction Techniques, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Art Therapy and Mindfulness.
I was born and raised in Billings Montana and enjoy the beauty of Big Sky Country. I count my blessings daily and am grateful to be surrounded by family and friends. I take pleasure in the arts, cinema, music, laughing, and spending quality time with my loved ones. I have always had a passion for helping others and through my personal life struggles, I have gained a compassionate perspective on life. I believe the struggles I've faced have taught me valuable lessons and helped me to become humble, empathetic, and tenacious in everything I do. If you are searching for a counselor with these qualities to help you or your loved one, I look forward to meeting you.

To learn more about EMDR, watch this informative video: "Healing Trauma" Public Awareness Film for EMDR Therapy from EMDRIA (EMDR International Association.) http://www.emdria.org
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an effective treatment for trauma. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation to process painful memories that appear to be stuck in the nervous system in their original emotional state. EMDR can be compared to REM sleep, but you are fully conscious throughout the entire process. EMDR Therapy can be beneficial for adults who have experienced trauma.
According to EMDRIA, "Scientific research has established EMDR as effective for post traumatic stress." There are several other conditions that can be treated using EMDR Therapy such as: "Panic Attacks, Complicated Grief, Dissociative Disorders, Disturbing Memories, Phobias, Pain Disorders, Performance Anxiety, Stress Reduction, Addictions, Sexual and/or Physical Abuse, Body Dysmorphic Disorders, and Personality Disorders." http://www.emdria.org
Your unique experiences shape who you are and have a tremendous impact on the people around you. Some ways trauma can invade your life is through nightmares, flashbacks, sleep problems, hypervigilance, and trouble concentrating. EMDR can help you target the trauma and process it. The memory won't disappear but EMDR therapy can change your perspective on the incident and help you to gain insight.
The ACE's study found a strong correlation between early trauma and emotional & health problems later in life. A counselor can help you deal with trauma and therapy will reduce the risk of these negative outcomes. Click on the link below to find out your ACE's Score:
